Quilts, Signposts, and Barn Art

Before there was the internet, phones, or other now common forms of communication, travelers often had to decipher signs to tell them where they could seek help, warn them of danger, etc. Often, marks scratched on a mailbox, paintings created on barns, and quilt patterns or their placement helped guide travelers.
